Strategy for Alysrazor

Alysrazor is a 4 phase fight where players will face-off againstnumerous adds, deadly flames, and even gravity itself as players take flight toengage the fire-bird herself in the air.

Phase one can seem very chaotic as there is plenty going on, but most of themechanics in this phase can be easily avoided, making thing much simpler overall.Phase one will last for a total for 3-minutes (4-minutes 10-seconds on Heroic)and is where you will be spending the majority of your time on this fight. Whenengaged, Alysrazor will blast the raid with Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (33) Firestorm, cover the entrance and exits with Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (34) Volcanic Fire, and take flightabove the battlefield. While in the air, Alysrazor will do astrafe-run across the field every minute, attacking anyone in the area withAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (35) Blazing Claw. While flying over, she will also drop multipleMolten Feathers, which can be picked up to gain a buff, up to 3feathers total. The first Molten Feather picked up will allow youto cast your spells while moving, the second feather increases movement speedby 30%, and the final feather allows your character to fly (more on theflying mechanic later). Everyone in the raid should aim to pick-up at least 1Molten Feather as this fight has tons of movement involvedthroughout it, ideally 2 for the 30% increased movement speed if you haveextra feathers available nearby.

The first add we'll look at are the Blazing Talon Initiates. These will constantly be spawning in on each side of the room, have very littlehealth and will try to cast very dangerous spells. TheBlazing Talon Initiates will frequently castAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (36) Brushfire, summoning a fiery orb that will damage nearby players;these orbs will remain for 1-minute and must be avoided. After each castof Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (37) Brushfire, the Blazing Talon Initiate willattempt to cast Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (38) Fieroblast; if Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (39) Fieroblast is notinterrupted, the Blazing Talon Initiate will gain a stack ofAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (40) Fire It Up! and hit a random raid member for very-high Fire damage. You will need interrupts assigned to both sides of the room to guarantee neitherBlazing Talon Initiate can ever cast Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (41) Fieroblast.Aside from the interrupting required, the Blazing Talon Initiateshave no aggro table and have very low health, so be sure to kill them quicklyevery 40 seconds.

The next set of adds that we will mention briefly are thePlump Lava Worms. Shortly after phase one starts, 4Plump Lava Worms will spawn around the center of the room; theseworms don't move, can not be attacked, and will simply sprayAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (42) Lava Spew around them to anyone within 18 yards. This essentiallymeans the middle of the room is off-limits while the Plump Lava Wormsare still alive. With the worms not being attackable, the only way to kill oneis to feed it to a Voracious Hatchling, the next add we will goover.

20 seconds after phase one starts, 2 Voracious Hatchling eggswill be dropped off on both sides of the battlefield. After a short-while, theeggs will break open and a Voracious Hatchling will come out ofeach. Both Voracious Hatchling will then becomeAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (43) Imprinted on the first person they see (nearest person to theiregg), only attacking and following that player, and taking 1000% moredamage from them. The Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (44) Imprinted needs to be on the tank foreach egg, if it lands on someone besides the tank that player must besacrificed to allow the Voracious Hatchling to use Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (45) Imprintedagain, hopefully on the tank this time. Make sure to keep theVoracious Hatchlings faced away from the raid as they have afrontal-cleave called Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (46) Gushing Wound, which applies a bleed to alltargets hit.

Once activated, the Voracious Hatchlings will begin to dealwith their new-found hunger, which will quickly begin to change their mood.Very quickly they will become Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (47) Hungry, which gives their auto-attacksa 20% chance to send them into a Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (48) Tantrum, increasingtheir attack speed and damage dealt by 50%. The only way to stop aAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (49) Tantrum and reduce the Voracious Hatchlings damagedealt is by feeding it one of the nearby Plump Lava Worms; simplydrag the Voracious Hatchling that is in a Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (50) Tantrumnear a Plump Lava Worm and it will eat it, becomingAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (51) Satiated in the process and removing Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (52) Tantrum.Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (53) Satiated will prevent Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (54) Tantrum from being able totrigger again for 15 seconds, allowing you more time to burn-down the massivehealth pool each Voracious Hatchling has. You will need torepeatadly feed each Voracious Hatchling aPlump Lava Worm every time they throw a Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (55) Tantrum toremove the damage buffs.

On heroic difficulty, the raid will need to deal with 6Voracious Hatchlings instead of 4, but they have reduced health tocompensate for the increased amount of spawns. There will also only be 2Plump Lava Worms rather than 4 for each set ofVoracious Hatchlings, but with their reduced health this should notbe an issue.

With all of the adds out of the way, the last part of phase one is dealing withthe Molten Feathers and sending players to fly in the air. Asmentioned earlier, collecting 2 Molten Feathers grants you theAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (57) Molten Feather buff, allowing you to cast while moving and granting30% movement speed. Picking up a 3rd Molten Feather willgrant players the Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (58) Wings of Flame buff, allowing them to fly in theair; this will allow them to chase Alysrazor around in the sky andchip away at her health bar.

While flying through the sky, players will havethe chance to fly through floating rings of fire, gaining a stack ofAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (59) Blazing Power; be sure to avoid the Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (60) Incendiary Clouds, the exploding rings as these will remove your Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (61) Wings of Flame buff.Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (62) Blazing Power grants 8% haste per stack, and restoresresources whenever a stack is gained. At 25 stacks of Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (63) Blazing Power, that player will also gain Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (64) Alysra's Razor for 40 seconds. Balanceyour raids DPS out as much as possible to keep the adds in check, and send anyextra ranged DPS available to fly in the air and damage Alysrazor asmuch as possible during phase one. Damage-over-time classes are ideal here asthey can keep most of their damage up while flying around gathering stacks ofAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (65) Blazing Power.

When phase one ends, any players flying in the air will need to land as theywill lose their Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (67) Wings of Flame buff when phase two begins.Alysrazor will summon a deadly Fiery Vortex in themiddle of the room, and cover the outer circle of the room withAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (68) Harsh Winds. Lastly, the entire room will be covered inFiery Tornados, moving in opposite directions from each other anddealing deadly Fire damage to anyone they touch. Rings of Fire will alsospawn during this phase, allowing players to continue gainingAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (69) Blazing Power stacks.

If you have the Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (70) Molten Feather 30% movement speed buff, all you need to do is simply follow a single tornado around for the entire30-seconds that phase two lasts; the additional 30% is enough here tomake you barely slower than the tornado. Without the Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (71) Molten Featherbuff, you simply need to follow a tornado, waiting until another tornado passesby on either your left or right side. Once a tornado passes by on either side, simply turn around, get behind that new tornado, and follow that one; repeatthis pattern over and over, following a new tornado every time it passes by untilphase two ends.

Phase three starts with all of the tornadoes from phase two despawning asAlysrazors suffers from Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (73) Burnout, causing her to crashinto the floor, becoming stunned and taking increased damage while her firesre-ignite. While debuffed by Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (74) Burnout, players attacks againstAlysrazor will benefit from Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (75) Essence of the Green, restoring10% mana for each spell used; make sure your healers get full mana here.During this phase Alysrazor will have Molten Energy, which starts out empty and quickly fills up over time. During this phase, 2Blazing Talon Clawshapers will spawn in and attempt to help aidAlysrazor recovery with Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (76) Ignition, increasing the rateat which she gains Molten Energy. Have your tanks interrupt and stun theseadds whenever they attempt to cast to prevent Alysrazor from gainingany additional Molten Energy, allowing you to stay in phase three with theAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (77) Burnout debuff for as long as possible.

Phase three will last a maximum of 34 seconds if bothBlazing Talon Clawshapers are not allowed to castAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (78) Ignition at all, and should be the goal for anyone looking tokill this boss. After 34 seconds, Alysrazor will awaken, losing theAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (79) Burnout debuff and attacking the raid again.

Once Alysrazor wakes up from Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (81) Burnout she will need tobe tanked and quickly faced away from the raid as she uses Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (82) Blazing Clawas a cleave-like attack here; have your tanks rotate defensive cooldowns hereas needed and perform a tank swap every couple stacks of Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (83) Blazing Claw. In addition to the deadly tank damage during this phase, the raid will also beblasted constantly by Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (84) Blazing Buffet. This puts extra pressure onthe healer to balance healing and cooldowns between the both the tank and theraid overall; rotating defensive cooldowns here is a must to survive the 25seconds of phase four until Alysrazor reaches 100 Molten Energyand the phase ends. After reaching 100 Molten Energy, Alysrazorwill cast Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (85) Full Power and phase one will start again; After a totalof 3 Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (86) Burnouts, Alysrazor will permanently stay on theground and no longer fly up.

The main mechanic added on heroic difficulty are the Molten Meteorsthat spawn in during phase one, avoid their swirling landing locations. Afterlanding, the Molten Meteors will activate and begin to slowly rollacross the room. If they run into a wall, the Molten Meteor willbreak apart into 3 smaller meteors, shooting out into a random direction; whenthe smaller meteors touch a wall again they will despawn. While at least oneof the Molten Meteors will need to be avoided, one of them willneed to be killed to survive Alysrazors new ability, Alysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (88) Firestorm.Killing a Molten Meteor before it reaches a wall will stop it inplace, allowing the raid to hide behind it before eachAlysrazor Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot (89) Firestorm cast to avoid the damage. Ranged DPS will need to killthe Molten Meteor as it will kill any nearby players in its path.
